- Bacon
- American Cheese
- Red Onion, Lettuce, Tomato
- BBQ Sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's), Mayo
- Texas Toast
The Hardee's Texas Toast Bacon Cheese Thickburger uses two pieces of Texas Toast instead of a traditional bun. Although the Texas Toast is far from authentic (its really just a piece of toasted buttered bread), it still adds a nice touch if you want a little more flavor in your burger. As a warning, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ is a very sweet BBQ sauce from Chicago. While there are hints of molasses (as found in Texas-style sauces), most of the sweetness comes from high-fructose corn syrup. Overall, there isn't much "Texas" in the burger... maybe add some jalapenos and fried onion straws? But I guess "Buttered Toast Bacon Thickburger with a Chicago BBQ Sauce" doesn't have as much market appeal.
The mayonnaise isn't listed as an ingredient on their website, but mine came with a healthy portion. I would omit the mayonnaise in a future order, as it doesn't add much and makes the sandwich more oily than it already is. The beef was a bit chewy. The bacon was very crisp. As always, the wax paper that wraps every Hardee's burger is a nice presentation touch.
Overall, an interesting twist on the traditional Thickburger.
